Cordin had put his right-hand man, Xander, in charge of watching her. Unfortunately, she spends a lot of time watching him too.
Phoebe won't stop trying to escape and return home but this mysterious man keeps distracting her from her goals. Xander has not only captured her physically, but is capturing her heat without even trying. Phoebe must choose between returning home to her sisters and remaining Xander's prisoner forever.
Review
Shannon Reckler
delivered an action packed paranormal romance that kept me captivated from the
very first page. Phoebe is a slayer that has been captured by the leader of the
vampires; a cruel and sadistic creature hell bent on extracting her DNA in
order to create a weapon to destroy the shape-shifting slayers. Luckily for
Phoebe, she is left in the care of Cordin’s right-hand man Xander.
Xander is not a vampire, but still is a trusted comrade of
the vampire leader and always has his ear, which he uses to his advantage.
Xander feels protective of the slayer and cares for her, bringing her back from
the brink of death.
Ms. Reckler conveys
sexuality and sensual beauty in her characterization of Xander and Phoebe. I
was immediately drawn to the two main characters. Ms. Reckler’s descriptiveness of the bond they formed and the love
they felt for each other left little doubt that the only thing that could
separate them was death.
Out of Darkness
delivered passionate romance and lusty love as Phoebe and Xander tackled every
facet of their relationship with desire and enthusiasm. Out of Darkness was a slow build up of two people who found that
they may not be as different as they originally thought; the longing to create
a bond and a life as one.
The secondary characters added depth to Phoebe and Xander’s
story, her sisters, also slayers and the goddess Athena, thus allowing for
subsequent books in the series and the answering of questions left unattained.
Shannon Reckler
has found a fan in this reviewer and lover of paranormal romance and I look
forward to reading more of the series.
Definite S.E.X.
A five handcuff review.
