Excerpt

Following the path from his room, he saw the glow of flames lighting the beach front of Satterfield West. Tiki torches-dozens of them scattered along a large expanse creating a luminescence of what appeared to be twinkling stars along the white sand. Pits also adorned the sand, strategically placed, for conversation or roasting whatever meat was on the market. 

Twinkling lights, the kind that you'd find on a Christmas tree, were strung along the palm trees that led to the pool and bar area, along with being hung on the pillars surrounding the bar. White. All the lights were white. And regardless of the noise, chatter, and music, the white lights created a feeling of serenity at the establishment. A sense of peace that could be found with people that were just like you. For the first time in a long time, Marik felt at home.
