Spring is here, which means the flowers are blooming and we're already starting to think about our summer vacations. Maybe the beach?
Well, let me
tell you about Tropical Paradise, a story about La Isla del Encanto.
Hopefully the
Spanish title grabbed your attention and now you’re asking, what the hell? My
new release takes place in beautiful Puerto Rico, where the sun, sand, and the
sea are in abundance. And all the hot men too.
As a Latina, the
island paradise is near and dear to my heart. Beautiful men and women grace the
island’s beaches everyday soaking up the sun and looking for love. So, I
decided, what better place than this scrumptious back drop for my 1Night Stand?
Writing Tropical
Paradise was fun as I mapped the island in my mind, knowing that I had been
there or could pinpoint any of the places. The drive from the airport in San
Juan towards the coast, the sun shining brightly and the radio blaring. Every
word written was a memory come to life and fueled my desire to tell Leo and
Skyler’s story.
What you may
find ironic is that out of everyone in my family, I am the least beachy-heat
person. My family laughs as they ask, what kind of Puerto Rican are you, since
you hate the heat and sand? What can I say- I may be Latina hot * put that in
your pipe and smoke it Livvy* and have a Latin temper, but the heat is not my
friend! I think is another life I was Eskimo and not Latina. Or better yet, I’m
suited for a nudist colony.
I am my own
oxymoron, but that’s what makes me unique and this Chica loves unique. I march
to the beat of my own drum and make no apologies.
Writing Tropical
Paradise was fun, and quite frankly if it’s not fun, then why do it?!

ReplyDeleteEveryone is unique not one of us is the same. That is what makes us all special :) For me I would say my inner strength - even on days when I am down I know it isn't the end of the world, with all the world has thrown at me I am still here ready to face another day :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great stop in this hop - thanks so much for the opportunity - Tonya

I'm pretty compassionate, to the point where I can sometimes be taken advantage of.

Well I have to say what makes me unique is my ability to get hurt with everyday items... Curling irons, butterknives, chairs, walls, hedgetrimers, stairs, trampolines, even wearing shoes is sometimes its own adventure. I have a list of things I am "not allowed to do, touch, or go on. My husband says I am an accident waiting to happen because I am so accident prone. After 15 years together he has quiet a list of things I got hurt with or on. Thank you for being part of the hop.

Thanks for being part of the hop - this is fun. My mind makes me unique but I am not allowed to share what goes on in there as I am sure I will frighten, upset or offend someone.....it is a dark and mysterious place.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm intrigued! I love dark and mysterious...LOL

Love the post! I'm not a beachy heat person either, but that because i'm super white & I burn easily, & being in the heat too long makes me sick sometimes. It kinda sucks lol.
ReplyDeleteI was once at a friends house & she had a family meeting because all her kids were fighting & she wanted it stopped. She had made everyone say something nice about another person in the room & she made me join the meeting lol. Well she had her son say something that was nice & good about me & he thought for a second & said "Brandi is unique". And afterwards I asked him why he chose that word for me, and he said that I wasn't like everyone else,...& I was funny & kind & did things my own way. Which is true! I do what I like & dont care what others think or say,... I dress how I want to with the stuff i'm comfortable in,... i'm funny, kind, helpful. And I've always lived by "Be a Leader, Not a Follower" & I never followed any crowds. In high school I wasn't in one clique, I knew everyone & didn't hate on anyone that was different, & i'm still the same way. And to alot of ppl I look like a little nerdy white girl, but try to pick on me or bully me & you'll see i'm not so weak at all. I had ppl try to bully me & then try to attack me after school when I was younger, & I shut everyone up when I kicked some ass,... cuz no one expected that lol. So i'm unique in alot of different ways,.. didn't mean to type so much but oh well lol. =)
Thank you for this giveaway! =)
I hope you have a great week!

Brandi, I think we are twins separated at birth! I am the same way- march to my own drum, never follow the crowd- I lead! and always stand up for the weak. I appreciate all that you wrote because it's kind of nice to see another person like me out there.

Hello! Thanks for being a part of the hop! I hope that you have a great week! We all have uniqueness. . . I'm not sure about mine but I do know that a lot of the times a key word or phrase will trigger my wanting to hear a song or reread a book. . not sure if that's unique.

Unique? I once had a job as a Zelcro tester.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting the giveaway. I love finding new authors to read. Fingers crossed to win.

Sounds like a great read! I don't think that I've read one in Puerto Rico before. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat makes me unique is probably my ability to make people feel awkward. It's not on purpose, but I always feel compelled to say what comes to mind, usually without thinking it through. Though I don't mean to offend people, but it tends to happen. I have learned over the years to try to not say much. I think that may be one of the reasons that I don't often drink. Lol.
