Nikki is a switch and a member of Jack Dalton Brown’s exclusive and secret BDSM Black Iris Club. Dan takes a BDSM ethics class at the club, and Nikki and Dan decide to explore the possibilities. The relationship starts off smoothly but soon hits rough waters. Dan is having a problem separating his hate for Antoinette Marie and all she had done from his love for his wife of twenty years, Anne Marie. Will Antoinette Marie’s machinations from her prison cell and Dan’s ambivalence make a happy ending impossible?
Nicollette’s
Defense was an edgier style book from Skye Michaels, author of the
Black Iris Club series and this reviewer loved it. Not the usual boy meets
girl, D/s relationship, Nicollette met Dan McGrath when she plea-bargained for
his incarcerated wife as the woman began her twenty-five year sentence.
Dismayed, distraught and at a cross road in his life, lawyer McGrath uprooted
his business and joined work forces with Nicollette’s law practice.
The slow build up added to
the appeal of Nicollette’s Defense.
The main character’s mutual attractions were kept in check as Dan waded through
his emotional upheaval and his emergence of Dom status. Nicollette, a switch,
was patient and understanding as Dan reconciled his new life, recently divorced
and BDSM newbie.
Ms.
Michaels blended the lines of dominant and submissive with
taste and clarity, while both Dan and Nicollette ventured into their new
affair. Their love for each other emanated throughout the pages as they made
passionate love D/s style or vanilla.
Ms.
Michaels never fails to take this reader out of her head and
into the world she creates with realism and precision. Nicolette’s Defense left me energized and satisfied in happily ever
after for all those who are patient~ true love can occur.
