S.E.X. Review~ Awakening Veronica by Heather Rainier

Bullied all her life, Veronica Benedict has learned to withdraw rather than risk being hurt by those closest to her—but that’s not the only type of bully she has to deal with.

On a research trip, a fellow author introduces her to two Doms at a wedding. Travis McDaniel is disillusioned by life in Washington, D.C., and is back home in Divine, examining his future.

Driven by the need to keep the citizens of Divine safe, Hank Stinson has put his loneliness and his secret desires aside—until he meets Veronica. Hank and Travis are captivated by the introverted author. Hank must decide if he needs this special kind of love more than he needs to be elected sheriff again, and Travis must choose between life in Divine and an opportunity to make a difference in the world. When they discover the bullying Veronica is enduring, their protective instincts come roaring to the surface.

Genre: Contemporary ,Ménage a Trois/Quatre, Western/Cowboys

Ms. Rainier’s book Awakening Veronica (Divine Creek Ranch) was set in a small town named Divine Creek, Texas. A backdrop of wide open spaces and small town feel was a great setting for this book.

Veronica was a romance writer with a few issues, she has been bullied by others her whole life- an introvert by her own admission. She was persuaded to go for a visit with her Grandma Kate to a friend’s wedding in Divine Creek, where her life will soon change.

Travis McDaniel was a game warden that was looking to make a change in his life who came back home to visit with his friend Hank Stinson the sheriff  of Divine Creek. Many years ago they talked of sharing a woman and now as changes in careers are in front of them the feelings comes back about wanting one woman to share and love.

This was a great read, well worth the time. I really enjoyed getting lost in the book. Veronica was just so interesting as she rediscovered herself. It was truly a coming of age for Veronica in this book as she found love and acceptance from two strong men, Travis and Hank.  The community of Divine Creek was wide ranging and showed what true friends could be to one another.

The sex was hot as hell and well placed in the book.  You felt as if you were part of the wonderful world of Divine Creek Ranch.  I look forward to the next book in this series.
