Blurb:
Their marriage was supposed to be all business....

When struggling novelist Chris Valentine meets Jesse Donovan, he’s interested in a book contract, or possibly a date. The last thing Chris expects is a marriage proposal from New York City’s most eligible bachelor!

Jesse’s in a pinch. To keep control of his company, he has to marry. So he has valid reasons for offering Chris this business deal: in exchange for living in a gorgeous mansion for a year, playing the doting husband, Chris gets all the writing time he wants and walks away with a million-dollar payoff. Surely Chris can handle that. He can handle living with the most handsome and endearing man he’s ever met, a man he immediately knows he wants in the worst way and can’t have. Or can he?

Excerpt from Chapter Ten

The knocking sound became more insistent. But it wasn’t the sound of the headboard hitting the wall, Chris realized as he woke with a start, it was someone knocking.

“Are you all right?” Jesse asked when Chris opened the door.

“I… yeah. Was I making noise or something?” Chris’s cheeks heated. He hoped he hadn’t been shouting Jesse’s name.

“You were moaning like you were in pain.”

Fabulous. Or moaning like I was about to—“I talk in my sleep sometimes,” Chris lied. He’d never before talked in his sleep, at least not that he’d ever been aware of. Not until he’d married Jesse. Not good. The next thing he knew, he’d sleepwalk right into Jesse’s bed.

“Oh. Right. Sorry.” Jesse’s Adam’s apple bobbed as he swallowed hard. He looked downright uncomfortable. Did he suspect what Chris had been dreaming about? The thought made Chris want to crawl under the covers and hide. Maybe he’d ask Jesse if there was another room he could use for the rest of the year. At least then he wouldn’t wake Jesse every night.

“Don’t apologize. I’m sorry I woke you.” Chris resolved to broach the subject the next day, when he had half a brain to focus on it.

“I’m glad you’re okay.” Jesse forced a smile, turned to leave, and hesitated a moment. He parted his lips as if he was about to say something, but instead did something that took Chris’s breath away: he brushed his fingers over Chris’s cheek.

Chris stood completely still, unsure how to respond. His cock, however, knew what to do. It always did.

Holy shit.

Jesse leaned in, his lips so close that Chris was tempted to hold his breath lest the entire surreal moment evaporate. In the dim light from the sitting room, the tented fabric of Jesse’s pajama bottoms was obvious.

Holy shit.

Jesse’s lips met Chris’s, and Chris wrapped his arms around Jesse’s waist. He wasn’t dreaming this time. But what the hell? The kiss deepened, their tongues exploring, tasting. Chris wanted Jesse, and damn if it didn’t seem like Jesse wanted him too. Jesse shuddered and a soft groan escaped his lips as they drew apart. He opened his eyes and gazed at Chris through insanely thick lashes. Was that even legal, to have eyes like that?

“I… I’m sorry, I don’t know what….” Jesse pulled suddenly away and made a beeline for his door.
“Jesse?”

Jesse glanced back, clearly mortified, then shut the door behind him without another word.
Holy shit. What the hell just happened here?

In that moment, Chris knew he’d either made the best decision of his life or the absolute worst.

Three weeks. Three fucking weeks, and he was falling for this man.

All about Shira
Shira Anthony is a complete sucker for a happily-ever-after, and rarely reads or writes a story without one. Never a fan of instalove, Shira likes to write stories about real men with real issues making real relationships work.

In her last incarnation, Shira was a professional opera singer, performing roles in such operas as “Tosca,” “Pagliacci,” and “La Traviata,” among others. Her Blue Notes Series is loosely based upon her own experiences as a professional musician.

Shira is married with two children and two insane dogs and when she’s not writing, she is usually in a courtroom trying to make the world safer for children. When she’s not working, she can be found aboard a 36’ catamaran at the Carolina coast with her favorite sexy captain at the wheel. She’s given up TV for evenings spent with her laptop, and she never goes anywhere without a pile of unread M/M romance on her Kindle.

Interested in hearing Shira sing? Here's a link to a live performance of Shira singing an aria from Puccini's "Tosca": http://www.shiraanthony.com/wp-conten...
