Kyle has an unwelcome crush on his nemesis Brent. Brent has a welcome crush on his friend Kyle. As it turns out, the line between a friend and an enemy doesn’t have to be a line at all.
Born on the wrong side of the tracks to the wrong family, Kyle Potter has spent his life clawing his way toward a better future. When he gets the perfect job at the perfect firm in perfect Los Angeles, Kyle is sure there are only blue skies ahead. And then he meets perfect Brent Haralson.
Born with a silver spoon to a well-established family, Brent Haralson has never been interested in leveraging his connections. Friends, success, and dates come easily to Brent and rejection isn’t something he has to deal with in life. And then he meets perfect Kyle Potter.
Kyle despises his unwelcome crush on his lazy, arrogant nemesis. Brent welcomes his feelings for his stubborn, brilliant friend. As it turns out, the line between a friend and an enemy doesn’t have to be a line at all.
This is a 2nd edition without substantive changes from the 1st edition, which was part of the It Was Always You anthology.
Kyle and Brent have an interesting love-hate relationship in Cardeno C.’s Rough Edges- although the hate was one-sided.
Kyle was born poor and made it a mission in life to better himself and become a solid, hard-working man. Brent was born rich and never had to work a day in his life- enjoying his spoils on his own terms. Unfortunately, Kyle’s resentment of Brent left him feeling disgust, a tad bit shame, and an even surprising dose of lust.
What I enjoyed about Rough Edges, was the author’s ability to turn unforeseen circumstances into fortuitous events, thus facilitating a mutual understanding between the two men. Everything was not what it seemed and the author allowed the story, (albeit short) to evolve.
Having said that, I also felt Kyle was whiny and critical about issues that were not of his concern. And although I believe he did fall for the rich boy, his attitude permeated throughout the tale and left this reader with a slightly sour taste in her mouth.
Still, a short story worth reading, as Cardeno C. never fails to deliver a wonderfully driven book.

With love on the line, Clint will need to decide if he can open his heart, tear down his shields, and jump in with both feet.

Jumping In by Cardeno C. was a quick sexy read that satisfied and tantalized the senses. Hawk, small town deputy mayor had his eye on Officer Clint and knew he wanted the man for himself. Clint, in the midst of ending a bad closeted relationship was about to fall into a bottle, if not for the quick action of Hawk.
Hawk and Clint were yummy together. Hawk was forthright and honest in his feelings and Cardeno C. delivered macho meets romantic as she conveyed Hawk’s personality.
Clint, too, held romance in his heart and the melding of these two personalities added spice to this tale. Together, the men set the sheets ablaze and wormed their way into each other’s hearts and this reader.
A short tale that packed a lot~ Cardeno C. is always a go-to.

Cardeno C. - CC to friends - is a hopeless romantic who wants to add a lot of happiness and a few "awwws" into a reader's day. Writing is a nice break from real life as a corporate type and volunteer work with gay rights organizations. Cardeno's stories range from sweet to intense, contemporary to paranormal, long to short, but they always include strong relationships and walks into the happily-ever- after sunset.
