S.E.X. Review~ A Chosen Man by Jaime Reese

For Wall McCormack, actions speak louder than words. He’s giving and protective, loyal to his friends, and devoted to his job. While confident and powerful enough to conquer any challenge, his greatest strength lies in his calm nature. Until an unexpected assignment sends his world into a loud and colorful chaos he never could have anticipated.
Rejection. It’s something Dylan Vaughn has known his entire life. But he’s a tough nut to crack and refuses to break. Armed with a sharp tongue and brutal honesty, he pushes through life and at anyone who attempts to take him on. Except for the quiet guardian who piques his interest and dares him to want…more.
When Dylan’s past comes back with a vengeance and jeopardizes their growing connection, Wall will stop at nothing to protect the younger man and remain by his side. But convincing Dylan that someone accepts the real man behind the cocky facade might prove to be Wall’s greatest challenge yet.
With his freedom on the line, Dylan must trust the strength of their bond and confront the forces threatening their future. Only then will he realize the dream of acceptance is real and finally have a place to call home.

With bated breath I waited for Jaime Reese’s new The Men of Halfway House and she did not disappoint. A Chosen Man was everything I have come to love in a Reese book, especially with this series.

Wall, previously met in A Mended Man (and police partner to Aidan) was stoic and a man of few words. He hit all my buttons within his monosyllabic grunts and verbiage, but damn, was his character complex. His personification leapt off the pages as Ms. Reese crafted a man of few words, who worked hard, loved hard, and was fiercely loyal. His large demeanor was only second to his larger heart.

Dylan, new member of the halfway house, was hacker extraordinaire, and the antithesis to Wall’s quiet presence. Snarky, quick-witted, and colorful were just a few words to describe this force of nature. A man who desired to be someone’s chosen number one, and thank you Ms. Reese for placing Wall in his path.

Together the men tore up the sheets  and steamed my e-reader. Action, comedic relief and of course our past favorites, Matt & Julian; A Chosen Man may have moved to the top of my list in this wonderful series. Or, better yet, all the books in this series are my favorite, as you cannot go wrong with a Jaime Reese creation- always worth waiting for.

Definite S.E.X.
