S.E.X. Review~ Admissible Behavior by Jenna Byrnes

Take one smart, sexy lawyer with tattoos covering his body. Add a macho, handsome Texan with a liquid-gold accent and enough hang-ups to drive a lawyer to commit a crime.
When Alex West told his parents he was gay they said, “Okay. What do you want for supper?” He grew into a happy, well-adjusted man and a sharp-as-a-tack lawyer. He has it all—except someone to call his own. Meeting Kyle Harbor for the first time, lots of thoughts run through his mind. Most of them dirty. Finally, someone sexy and available, and what a catch.
Kyle Harbor grew up with a homophobic father who spent years convincing him what ‘real men’ did and didn’t do. They definitely didn’t fool around with one another, and Kyle got a summer at Bible Camp to convince him. Married for nearly twenty years, he finally decided his beautiful wife deserved better and divorced her. Now he’s looking for love in all the wrong places when he stumbles upon Alex and sparks fly. Can he battle his demons from the past, or is their relationship doomed before it even gets a chance?
Reader Advisory: This book contains references to homophobically motivated physical child abuse, some brief references to drug use, one brief reference to gang rape, and implications of a ‘gay conversion program’ in backstory.

Admissible Behavior, book two in Jenna Byrne's Marked Men series was an overall nice addition to the series.

I thoroughly enjoyed the story and especially loved the secondary characters, but didn't connect with the main characters until closer to the end of the book.

Kyle, a closeted divorced man with a daughter had a difficult time reconciling the fact that gay men could live meaningful familial lives. Alex on the other hand, was proudly out with a loving network of family and friends.

Kyle was a pretentious prig who wanted everything his way- right, wrong, or indifferent. I felt he used Alex and preyed on his feelings, all the while Alex allowing him to do so. I would have given Kyle the boot and not let the door hit him in the a..

Eventually, Kyle redeemed himself and found happiness within himself which in turn allowed him to find happiness with Alex.

S.E.X. Review~ Acceptable Behavior by Jenna Byrnes

Tattoos don’t define a person’s character, or make him sexy. But, if you ask Sam Madison, they sure don’t hurt.

Dr. Travis Nelson has a passion for ink but keeps his many tattoos covered by long sleeves and trousers. He’s aware that as a pediatrician he’ll be judged not only by the other physicians in his practice, but also by the parents of his young patients.

When Sam Madison takes his young nephew, Levi, to be seen for an ear infection, he’s immediately attracted to Travis and the feeling is mutual. But Sam’s sister Melanie is going through a rough time and caring for Levi, and covering her obligations, keeps Sam occupied. He feels like he’s in no position to start a relationship.

Travis sees things differently, though he’s unable to truly understand the deep bond and connection Sam shares with his twin. As Melanie’s life goes from bad to worse, Sam is forced to make difficult decisions. Is protecting Levi enough of a reason for the two men to stay together, or will fighting for the child ultimately tear them apart?

I chomped at the bit to read Acceptable Behavior by Jenna Byrnes, and although I loved the book, I have mixed reviews.

First, let me say there is nothing sexier than a man taking care of a child and in this instance Acceptable Behavior hit the mark.

Sam has appointed himself care giver to his drug addict twin sister, Mel and his nephew Levi. Meeting Dr. Travis was purely accidental after taking Levi to the pediatrician with an ear infection. The men were quickly smitten with each other but Sam lamented the idea of dating due to life’s circumstances.

Travis soon wore Sam down and the men became hot and heavy both in the bedroom and out.

The story was well written and told; all the players forming a somewhat cohesive relationship, but the dynamics at times were off.

I adored Levi! The precocious little boy wrapped me around his finger as he did for the rest of the characters. Travis’ parents were also at the top of my list.

I supposed where I fall short in my declarations were with the main characters. Mel, Sam’s twin was a spoiled, self-centered woman with little time for her son or the brother who sacrificed so much for her. Do I understand that she was an addict? And that would have been the basis for her personality tirades? Yes. But the nonchalant attitude towards Levi rubbed me the wrong way. Did she become a good person in the end? Sure. But even after the tragedy she suffered, I sometimes got a blasé feeling emanating from her and a neatly choreographed ending.

Travis, while somewhat pretentious and overbearing had numerous good qualities. Quite frankly he simply needed to rein himself in a bit.

Sam, the doting uncle gave into both Mel and Travis and needed to find a backbone. Finally coming to terms with the life his sister chose and Travis’ persistence allowed him to move forward with the family life he’d dreamt of.

Ms. Byrnes delivered all the elements I would have expected in a story such as Acceptable Behavior, but once the climax of the story came, the ending delivered swiftness and convenience.

On another note, the sex was off the chart~ hot and heavy!
