Raising a family was always Adam Mills’ dream, although solo parenting and moving back to tiny Garnet Run certainly were not. After a messy breakup, Adam is doing his best to give his young daughter the life she deserves—including accepting help from their new, reclusive neighbor to fulfill her Christmas wish.
Though the little house may not have “the most lights ever,” the Mills home begins to brighten as handsome Wes Mobray spends more time there and slowly sheds his protective layers. But when the eye-catching house ends up in the news, Wes has to make a choice: hide from the darkness of his unusual past or embrace the light of a future—and a family—with Adam.
From Harlequin Special Edition: Believe in love. Overcome obstacles. Find happiness.
The Lights on Knockbridge Lane
by Roan Parrish was a sweet romance between a single father and his reclusive
neighbor. Adam, with daughter Gus (short for August) returned to Garnet Run
after a breakup. A bit of breaking and entering, and Adam met his neighbor Wes
and I believe the attraction was instantaneous.
Wes was a loner and recluse, nerdy with a
penchant for creepy crawlies and just what Adam’s daughter Gus loved. Adam on
the other hand hated creatures not considered dogs and cats but allowed his
daughter to explore her passions.
The storyline centered more around Gus with
bits and baubles of the two men thrown in- sometimes this worked and sometimes
not. While I still enjoyed the book and I thought it was a sweet Christmas trope,
the main characters seemed lost in the aftermath. A few errors of name
switching pulled me from the story as well.
An HEA was achieved and life went on in small
town yet I yearned for more.
