S.E.X. Review~ No Regrets by Alex Jane

Ex-soldier Ryan Jones likes precisely two things—his kitchen and the music his father taught him to love.
After spending too many years running from his past, he’s found something like peace. Working all day as a short-order cook in a dying town, then drinking himself to sleep at night isn’t much of a life but he thinks it’s all he needs, until the day he notices the kid.
Lucas is quiet, barely twenty, sporting a shy smile beneath his frightened eyes, and bruises that Ryan can relate to all too well. Torn between wanting to help Lucas and simply wanting him, Ryan’s resolve to keep the kid at arm’s length slowly wears away.
Until Lucas disappears.
Ryan’s not the sort of man to be anyone’s white knight. But as it turns out, what Ryan is capable of, is exactly what Lucas needs.

Tumultuousness and angst-filled described Alex Jane’s new novella, No Regrets. Older-younger M/M story, not a lot of sex, but well played and well written. Ex-Army Ranger Ryan had a sordid past, both professionally and personally, and longed for the quiet life of working in the small town diner. Enter Lucas; young, shy, and in desperate need of a friend, the two men soon found themselves drawn to each other, finding comfort and solace in the confines of Ryan’s behind the diner trailer.

Very little sexual activity, but sexual tension added to the depth of the storyline. I applaud Ms. Jane for telling a true story of shame, friendship, and bonding, sans tarnishing it with unneeded scenes to meet a market.

The underlying themes of trauma and a hidden past where regrets could play no part radiated throughout the story and provided a sense of calm to both men.

No spoilers, but the anticipation of what came, and the reality when it did, smacked this reader and came out of left field.

No Regrets delivered a darkness not found in most short novellas, yet it worked.

S.E.X. Review~ Home in Your Heart by Alex Jane

When Martha returns to the homestead after five years away at school, the excitement of her arrival is somewhat overshadowed. There’s a new pack in town who appear friendly enough but something about them raises both the Alphas hackles. But any reservations about their new neighbors don’t stop Martha from falling for the charms of the handsome wolf set on seducing her.

With his stubborn daughter intent on giving up her future plans, his youngest son out of control and Ephraim not doing much better, Caleb struggles to keep his family together, risking his relationship with Jacob in the process. And, of course, the surprise guest that Martha brings with her doesn’t help matters either.

And as for Martha, her whole life has been an adventure of books and learning, until Albert captures her heart. But while she wrestles with her feelings, there’s a constant presence waiting in the wings. Someone that will catch her if she falls. Someone that always has, and always will. If she’ll let him.

No matter how far you go, there will always be a home for you in my heart.

Alex Jane’s fourth book in her The Alphas’ Homestead series was a lesson in patience, acceptance, and love. Home in Your Heart left this reader tearfully happy with a full heart.

Caleb and Jacob were as always, riveting characters with an abundance of love for each other and their family.

Ms. Jane’s writing transformed a story of life and love and brought the characters to life drawing me into their family and making any reader feel accepted.

I became invested in their story; feeling every hurt, shedding tears, and smiling as things unfolded.

With only two books left in the series I look forward to Ms. Jane’s series evolving, cresting, and coming full circle. Martha and Joe, Ephraim and Joshua, Seth and Malcolm, and our favorite young alpha Thaddeus- all members of a wonderfully special and close-knit family- all with tales to tell.

The Alphas’ Homestead series may be classified as M/M, but it is much more. The series is a work of love and the willful tenacity of one author’s desire to deliver a carefully crafted story of the Fletcher-Carpenter family.

S.E.X. Audio Review~ Tis the Season by Alex Jane

Aaron has spent the past 10 months alone. When he meets a sad, yet strangely familiar man on a cold Halloween night, he impulsively invites him home. But the intimate connection they share lasts only until morning. Aaron wakes up alone - wracked with guilt and devastated to have lost his chance. Or so he thinks.
Thanksgiving brings Aaron another shot at happiness, but letting go of an old love and accepting a new one isn't as easy as everyone keeps telling him. And by the time Christmas Eve rolls around, it becomes clear that Aaron's not the only one struggling to let himself love again.
Christmas miracles are all well and good, but it's going to take more than the Holiday Spirit for Aaron to get his happy ever after.
A story of grief, sadness, and letting it go; and finding love when you least expect it.

A feel good emotional tale, 'Tis the Season by Alex Jane was a sure-fire winner. Barreling through the lives of Aaron and Dylan Ms. Jane broached the subject of love lost and the feelings of dread during what should be the most joyous time of the year.
Aaron lost his husband and waded through life- a man still attached to the spirit of the deceased. Dylan- on the brink of destruction, lost, after getting out of a bad relationship. What Aaron and Dylan found was common ground in despair and the strength in each other to forge forward.

Ms. Jane spun a tale taking this reader on an emotional roller coaster, hoping for holiday cheer and a miracle happy ending. ‘Tis the Season brought a smile and a tear and the knowledge that good things are around the corner when we open ourselves to the holiday spirit.

Narrator, Michael Fell catapulted this reader into a world of despair and cheer as his voice gave credence to Aaron and Dylan’s story. Beautiful inflection and a soft cadence brought the men’s lives alight with hope and the desire for new beginnings. Between Ms. Jane’s written words and Mr. Fell’s narration, ‘Tis the Season was one to be heard.
