According To Liam Series

Blurb

The bonds of family aren’t regulated by blood. They’re defined by love and an open heart.

Bryn and Michael Mettler have lived a life that many can only dream about. The two men had a whirlwind romance and ended up happily married. Bryn played hockey for the Pittsburgh Ravens, and Michael worked at a job he loved in web design and writing a successful humor blog. They also doted on Mike’s nephew Liam as all good uncles should.

They’ve welcomed a new member into their small but loving clan. Made strides to heal a fractured past hurt. Traveled the world and settled into their new home and lives with great joy. The only thing missing was a child of their own. That absent piece is now here, and their lives are about to change in a million charming, unexpected ways.

USA Today Bestselling Author V.L. Locey – Penning LGBT hockey romance that skates into sinful pleasures.

V.L. Locey loves worn jeans, yoga, belly laughs, walking, reading and writing lusty tales, Greek mythology, Torchwood and Dr. Who, the New York Rangers, comic books, and coffee. (Not necessarily in that order.) She shares her life with her husband, her daughter, one dog, two cats, a pair of geese, far too many chickens, and two steers.

When not writing spicy romances, she enjoys spending her day with her menagerie in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania with a cup of fresh java in one hand and a steamy romance novel in the other.

Family According to Liam by V.L. Locey was a wonderfully funny addition to the series. As I read each book, am I able to better connect with the Mettler family and see Liam’s carefully crafted point of view. The story further continued with many changes on the horizon. Bryn and Michael hoped to adopt a little girl, Bridgette, Liam was expecting a new baby brother, and life of the Mettler men never eased.

Ms. Locey always does a great job of writing from the characters POV, whether it be adult or child- I loved the dynamics. Bridgette’s character was as precocious as her soon to be cousin, Liam, and the narration delivered by each child was spot on.

The author’s uncanny ability to allow the reader to connect was apparent because the problems of a world-famous goalie were the problems of everyday people attempting to get through life with friendship, love, and family.

Ms. Locey moved the storyline forward with each book, as people grew and matured and life changed. She allowed her characters to change as well, which made the story even more believable. Secondary characters with more books to come only added to the appeal. A wonderful series, that should be read from the start.

Definite S.E.X.

When you see the world through the eyes of a child, there’s magic everywhere.

And crumbs. Lots of crumbs…

But that’s not going to stop Mike and Bryn Kneller from traveling with their nephew Liam at their side. Not that deciding to take the lad to visit Bryn’s homeland was an easy decision for the two recently wedded men despite how much they adore the boy. This trip was supposed to be a romantic anniversary trip after all.

However, life, as it does, tends to lead us down a path of its own choosing. Combining an unexpected announcement from a family member with the not-so-subtle pleadings of Bryn’s parents, the decision was made. With lots of hand sanitizer and a heaping helping of patience, the journey begins, leading Bryn and Mike to discover a great deal about themselves, their marriage, and their plans for the future.

Looking at the world through the eyes of a child was always unexpected and a tad bit daunting, but V.L. Locey did it with clarity and a whole lot of panache. The World According to Liam was an excellent continuation of Bryn and Mike’s lives as they toggle thru with their nephew in tow.

I adored this family, including all the secondary characters. Bryn and Mike always made the best of any situation no matter the smallest or largest detail and came out, although sometimes a little sticky, better on the other end. The mere fact that these two men in the start of wedded bliss decided to take a young child with them on a honeymoon journey overseas was enough to make me go “things that make you go hum”.

Liam once again stole the show. I do not know how Ms. Locey did it, but her ability to create a child character and infuse reality was uncanny. From what Liam says, to his mannerisms, I pictured my own children with their hands on their hips and never knowing what would come out of their mouths next.

Bryn’s parents and grandmother created an entire new realm to their family, and I hoped to see them in subsequent books.

The World According to Liam was loaded with reality, realism, and the largest dose of love imaginable. Ms. Locey’s evolution as a prolific writer transcends through Liam and simply put- keeps giving.

A must read, the According to Liam series should not be missed.

S.E.X. Review~ Love According to Liam by V.L. Locey

Love According to Liam (According to Liam #3) by [V.L. Locey]Sometimes it takes a child to remind us that love and family are rarely perfect but an accepting heart can smooth out the imperfections.

Mike Kneller-Mettler’s life has certainly been on the fast track upward since he met his husband, Bryn. Now married for nearly a year to the starting goalie for the Pittsburgh Ravens, Mike’s found himself propelled into a new home, a new career, and a new role as a loving spouse. As his baby sister’s wedding approaches, Mike is going to be faced with a couple of monumental decisions that will affect not only his future but everyone he holds close to his heart.

Bryn Mettler and his team didn’t have the best ending to their season. Nursing a recurring groin injury, Bryn isn’t quite sure he’s ready for wedding chaos. But the nuptials are going to go off whether he’s able to dance with the bride or not. Amid the usual insanity that every wedding brings, unexpected guests show up to throw the beautifully planned affair into turmoil. As the adults slip into childish behavior, it might be up to Liam to be the voice of reason.

Love According to Liam was a wonderfully sweet and angst-filled continuation of V.L. Locey’s According to Liam series. I would recommend the books be read in order to understand the flow of the storyline.

Bryn and Michael, now a married couple, were making a life for themselves both personally and professionally. Hockey season ended, allowing Bryn to focus on home life and the next step as a couple. Michael, no longer working full time from home, balanced work and home while also focusing on married life. Enter Liam. Precocious, adorable, insatiable, and ever present- their nephew once again stole the show.

Kelly, Michael’s sister and mother to Liam embarked on her own life as she prepared to wed Adam. Michael of course was the brother of honor and general wedding planner. Between all his roles- web designer, blogger, husband, and brother-the one which tried him the most was son. Angst was not far behind as Michael and Kelly’s conservatively religious parents were back in the picture.

I must admit, even though the book had numerous funny parts, mostly revolving around Liam, I also was reduced to tears- not something I expected after reading book 1. Love According to Liam was at times heart-breaking with heady topics. But, do not let that deter you from reading the tale, because it was definitely worth the read.

I enjoyed Michael’s inner monologues, Bryn’s take charge and sometimes overbearing nature, and Liam’s quips. Ms. Locey hit it out of the park with Love…..
