S.E.X. Review~ The Legacy by Alex Jane

1919. Nebraska.

Alex Jane has become one of my go-to authors, especially when she expands on the Alphas’ Homestead series. Her latest book, The Legacy, The Homestead Legacy series was a wonderful addition that left a tear in my eye but a smile on my face.

Manny returned from the Great War, inheriting his grandfather’s homestead in Nebraska, hoping for a new start and a little peace. Fans of the Alphas’ Homestead series will remember the little boy, who grew to be a man and carry on Caleb and Jacob’s legacy.

Asher, an alpha without a pack, the district marshal, and friend of the family, intimated his life into Manny’s with the knowledge the man was his mate and the need to be near him. Unfortunately for Manny, he only remembered the young boy who tormented him.

Thank goodness Ms. Jane figured out a way to bring these two men together and created a sexy read with larger than life characters. I loved reading about Seth, although a bit older, still cantankerous and mischief-ridden.

Martha, ever spunky and vocal, made my day to read about her and the life she’s led. My downfall, and one which I already knew, Caleb and Jacob only live on in memory- my two favorite characters of the series.

As a lover of history, I appreciated Ms. Jane’s attention to historical detail when writing about Nebraska and the surrounding states. I was transported to the homestead, and the desire to keep tradition while embracing the new.

The Legacy was heartfelt, tearful, and sexy all rolled into one story. A must read.

I was in love with the Alphas’ Homestead series and now have a new favorite in The Arrangement, A Homestead Legacy series. Gabriel and Nathaniel rivalled any wolf pairing that I have previously read.

When Gabriel’s pack dwindled, the only real solution was for marriage to another pack alpha. Enter Nathaniel. Scarred emotionally and physically, the two men knew each other as children- Gabriel’s’ brother being Nathaniel’s best friend. Tragedy tore the friendship apart, and necessity brought them back together.

Gabriel’s easy going and loving spirit complimented the exterior gruffness of Nathaniel, knowing that inside, the man radiated tenderness. He just needed the right mate to bring out the best in him.

Ms. Jane dove into a beautifully written historical romance of men who needed to heal not only on the outside but on the inside. A light was lit and sunshine was brought back into Nathaniel’s life as Gabriel’s careful handling was of the nature of a shy colt. Ms. Jane allowed the characters to guide her and pen a timeless love story; where arrangements can sometimes turn into beautiful romances.

The secondary characters- Nathaniel’s pack- were an exceptional addition to the overall storyline. They added dimension and depth, especially into the understanding of Nathaniel’s temperament. Tad (Alphas’ Homestead) made an appearance, and it was wonderful to catch up with him and his mate, even if in a small way.

The Arrangement was beautifully written and should be immediately read.

S.E.X. Review~ Longing for Shelter by Alex Jane

Seth Mason arrives at the Alphas’ Homestead under duress. The Council have made it clear that if his cousins, Caleb and Jacob, can’t tame Seth’s wild ways his very last chance will be used up and he’ll have nowhere left to go.

Seth is horrified to find that he’s going to have to spend a year living in the backwaters of Nebraska. He hates the Alphas. He hates the dirt and the horses. He hates the nearby town and everyone in it.

In fact, the only thing he doesn’t hate is Malcolm, the deputy sheriff. Unfortunately, Malcolm doesn’t seem to feel the same, especially when Seth uses his bad behavior to try to get the deputy’s attention.

Jacob feels for Seth—knowing what it’s like to lose family—but when his cousin’s bad behavior turns the town, not only against Seth but against all the werewolves at the homestead, he has to put his sympathies aside and fight to save his family and the place he’s called home for the last five years.

Sometimes the only shelter we can find from ourselves is in the hearts of others.

Longing for Shelter was a wonderful addition to Alex Jane’s The Alphas’ Homestead series. Things were not well for Seth in New York and in order to preserve his sanity and possibly even his life, the Council decided to send him to Nebraska to live with his cousins Jacob and Caleb and their family.

Life in Nebraska post-Civil War was hard and unforgiving, especially when you’re used to the finer things a city offers. Prejudice against anyone different, whether it be shifters or natives, Seth’s eyes were opened to the preconceptions of the Midwest and the realization that pack was what you made of it.

Jacob and Caleb, as always, handled each situation that came up with dignity and patience, albeit with a tad bit of growling in between.

The author wrote depth in her characterization of Seth as he transformed from a spoiled young man to someone a mate could truly be proud of. Malcolm, the deputy of Native American ancestry was a humble soul with a passion for his quiet life and Seth’s well-being. Together the men join and the Homestead became larger.

As always, the children, Ephraim, Martha, and Thaddeus, brought a tender side to the alphas with their loving care and protection. Sarah, Caleb’s sister, always a nice addition, and one in which I hope is made permanent to the Homestead…soon.

Ms. Jane’s fundamental research to capture the era was eloquently done and her efforts were duly noted. The dust, the smells, the small home occupied by the pack, bounced from the e-reader as I read page after page, transformed in the era of rebuilding and hardships.

Hints of more books to come, The Alphas’ Homestead series is a must read!

A feel good emotional tale, 'Tis the Season by Alex Jane was a sure-fire winner. Barreling through the lives of Aaron and Dylan Ms. Jane broached the subject of love lost and the feelings of dread during what should be the most joyous time of the year.

Aaron lost his husband and waded through life- a man still attached to the spirit of the deceased. Dylan- on the brink of destruction, lost, after getting out of a bad relationship. What Aaron and Dylan found was common ground in despair and the strength in each other to forge forward.

Ms. Jane spun a tale taking this reader on an emotional roller coaster, hoping for holiday cheer and a miracle happy ending. ‘Tis the Season brought a smile and a tear and the knowledge that good things are around the corner when we open ourselves to the holiday spirit.

S.E.X. Returning Home by Alex Jane

Three years after Jacob Carpenter landed on Caleb Fletcher’s doorstep, the Alpha mates return to the city they grew up in to be married. 

Aside from the sheer exhaustion of traveling across the country with three children in tow, both men step foot back in New York filled with apprehension about what kind of reception they will receive from their families after abandoning their respective packs. 

At first it seems they are welcomed home with open arms and much excitement about their wedding but it soon becomes clear that not everyone is so happy to see the prodigal sons return. 

Indeed, Caleb finds himself wondering if Jacob will go through with the ceremony at all, or whether it would be better to pack up his mate and their children, and head back to Nebraska before the situation does irreparable damage to them both. 

Sometimes you have to leave a place to realize it’s exactly where you ought to be. 

Alex Jane once again regaled this reader with a sensual tale in her book Returning Home, The Alphas’ Homestead series. Caleb and Jacob returned to New York to marry before their children and their packs~ although not thwart with rife. Lucky for the two alphas, their love and sense of togetherness outdid everything thrown at them.

True to form, Ms. Jane delivered a time period classic that was well-versed and researched. Her writing transported me to post Civil War and drew me into the story. The world building captured my attention and things can only go up from here. Every detail was carefully delivered sans being forced.

Caleb’s family was genuine and caring~ proud and accepting~ their love radiated from each other and to each other. The children have grown and matured under the gentle hands of their father, secure in the family of choice and acceptance. Ms. Jane’s characterization of the children with each other and Caleb and Jacob left me smiling and warmed my heart. I pictured the tiny alpha, Thaddeus, growling at his brother and sister, amused and tickled.

Returning Home endeared me even more than I thought possible after reading Home is Where You Are. Alex Jane is now an automatic for this reader. Strong and romantic characters, Ms. Jane’s series should not be overlooked.

By the winter of 1870, Caleb Fletcher has carved out a sheltered existence for himself in a simple cabin, outside a small town in the backwaters of Nebraska, resigned to living out his days as a solitary wolf. But his quiet life is interrupted when another werewolf lands on his doorstep on the eve of a snowstorm, brutalized almost beyond repair, with nowhere else to turn. 

When Caleb reluctantly welcomes Jacob into his cabin, and eventually his bed, it forces him to face up to the traumas he’s been running from; the shame that made him leave his pack behind, and the horrors of war he endured. 

As the weeks pass, it seems that Jacob’s arrival might not be the coincidence it first appeared. Jacob has an agenda. One that involves Caleb. And if Caleb agrees to it – if he can let go of his past and his prejudices – it will change Caleb’s whole world. Maybe even for the better. 

Without a mate – a family, a pack – a wolf has no home. 

But what if home finds you?

A post-Civil War Midwest tale, that grabbed my attention~ Home is Where You Are was beautifully written, keeping me captivated and enthralled. New author (to me) Alex Jane delivered an original and creative twist to werewolves and alphas during the late 1800’s.

Caleb and Jacob immediately fascinated me with their mannerisms, fight for right, and care for each other and family. The two alphas held a gentle tone in a rough and sometimes unforgiven time period that with Alex Jane’s careful hand remained authentic to the era and nuances.

The first book in the Alphas’ Homestead series was fast-paced in a delightful way, engaging the reader and drawing on emotion. Secondary characters enhanced the story and flowed as an integral part of the story and simply not misplaced.

I adored Caleb’s sister and want more of her~ the strength of family and her foresight to know what’s best. Additionally, John (the sheriff) and Mal (deputy) gave depth and understanding of the ruggedness of the expanding Midwest.

Small snippet at the end of book one divulged who the next stories pertain to and I look forward to reading them all.

Home is Where You Are was not necessarily a tale of sex and lust but a manifestations of sensuality and affection and of coming together for mutual satisfaction and love~ no matter what trying times confront you.
