S.E.X. Review Love Unwrapped by Hayden Hunt

How could he do this to me? 

I thought me and my ex really had something together. And then I find out he's been cheating on me for months. I mean, we were supposed to move in together, for crying out loud! And to think, I was going to surprise him by taking him to the shelter to adopt that dog he's always wanted. It was my Christmas gift to him. 

Well, jokes on him, because I'm going to adopt a dog anyway. What better way to get through a break up, right? And, well, when I meet a cute shelter employee named Gene I'm definitely not disappointed. I'm not sure it'll actually lead to anything but there's nothing wrong with some harmless rebound flirting, right? 

It's been a long time since I've been open to dating again. 

After my ex dumped me brutally years ago, I've become pretty closed off when it comes to meeting new guys. I just don't want to end up hurt like I did before. Plus the animal shelter keeps me really busy these days. Someone has to be there for these dogs. 

So when I meet Eli, I'm a little nervous. He's not only very attractive but also incredibly kind. I can see myself really falling for a guy like him. But I can also really see myself getting my heart ripped out by him... And I'm not sure if exploring a relationship is really worth it. Even if he does love Christmas time as much as I do. 

Love Unwrapped by Hayden Hunt was a Christmas feel good book that unfortunately did not work for me. Recently dumped (hours, not days), Eli found himself attracted to pet adoption coordinator Gene. The quick and instant chemistry have the two men in each other’s pants quicker than I could ‘turn the page’. Unprotected sex by two men (when one just found out his lover cheated on him) and the lack of emotional connection deterred me from connecting to either the characters or the theme.

Additionally, the lack of editing and word choice distracted from the read.

There are feelings between us that I want to deny...

For years now, I have neglected my friendships and romantic relationships in pursuit of my ultimate goal: to make it as a recording artist. Music is my passion and the only thing I want in life is to succeed in it. At least, I thought it was the only thing I wanted. But then I meet him...

Mason is just easy to be around. And since he owns his own record label, he might finally be the ticket to getting in the music industry. Even though he's a bit older than me, I genuinely feel like we could be good friends. Yeah, that's right, just friends. Because we couldn't be more than that, I'm straight! Aren't I?


Caleb is great, but he's too young for me.

Caleb might be sweet, cute, and incredibly talented but he's not for me. He can't be, I've dated too many younger men to know it just doesn't work. I need someone who is going to be in the same place in life as I am. And he seems to be straight anyway, though you wouldn't know it by the way he keeps looking at me.

I'll help him record his new album and I'll be a mentor to him, but that's it. That's as far as things can go. Except I can't shake the nagging feel that if I let him go, I'll be saying goodbye to my soul mate.

This standalone gay-for-you novel comes complete with a HEA ending! 

Record Love by Hayden Hunt was a sweet GFY story of waiter Caleb and record producer Mason.

The story was very much told from inside the characters heads, sometimes with each spin on the same occurrence. 

Although the premise of the story was good, it fell flat and slow, especially when he relationship progressed.  The story quickly progressed to six months later with little sense that anything important occurred. I wasn't convinced of Caleb's sincerity in loving Mason and at times I found Mason self-serving.

Secondary character Grandma Mary stole the show with her quick wit and sunny disposition.

It seems like I'm never going to find the right woman... But maybe I've found the right man

Things haven't been easy for me. Even though, in theory, I have everything I want. I'm rich, I get to play football for a living which is my passion, I have a huge house. What I don't have is someone to share it with. Despite dating so many women, none of them ever click for me. I was beginning to resign myself to being alone forever, until I meet Alex.

Alex is the perfect person for me... Except for the fact that he's a man.

I don't date straight guys, I refuse to get tangled up in that mess.

At least, that's what I promise myself after my ex Jason. I don't want to be with a man who isn't willing to come out of the closet. But, that doesn't mean I can't be friends with Liam, right? There's no harm in being around him if I keep things platonic.

Only, every fiber of my being is craving him romantically.

Touched Down by Hayden Hunt was a quick read and an even quicker romance. Straight man Liam and gay man Alex met at a local beach bar and began chatting. Liam soon found himself invited to a party at Alex’s home, where a drunken goodnight kiss (initiated by Liam) startled both men.

Liam’s apology won Alex over convincing the man he already had feelings for him and within minutes Alex willingly gave himself to Liam.

The premise of the book captured my attention, but once I started reading the story fell flat. Straight man suddenly turned gay in the blink of an eye and had no qualms about bedding another man; gay man fell immediately in love with straight man and allowed him to 'have' him with a bit of saliva as lube, very little prep, and no condom…. this concerned me.

Additionally, the lack of editing and word choice distracted from the read. Hayden Hunt is a new author to me and I’d like to read more.
