Jason and Vale are back in this side story set in the Heat of Love universe!

A romantic getaway turns dramatic when an unexpected heat descends on Vale, leaving Jason with no choice but to act. The resulting pregnancy is dangerous for Vale and terrifying for Jason, but with the help of friends and family, they choose to embrace their uncertain future. Together they find all the love, joy, and heat they need to guide them through!

While this story follows the characters from Slow Heat, it will be most enjoyable if read directly after Alpha Heat, as it takes place contemporaneously with that book.

Author of the bestselling book Smoky Mountain Dreams and the fan favorite Training Season, Leta Blake’s educational and professional background is in psychology and finance, respectively. However, her passion has always been for writing. She enjoys crafting romance stories and exploring the psyches of made up people. Slow Birth by Leta Blake was an emotional roller coaster set in the Heat of Love world and recommended to read after Alpha Heat. Jason and Vale were the main characters in Slow Heat and reappeared as MCs in this story as well. But, as with all the characters in Ms. Blake’s world, the alphas and omegas traverse each story.

When an unexpected heat comes upon Vale, and condoms in short supply, Jason had no choice but to satisfy his omega’s needs, impregnating him and causing emotional turmoil.

From the first book in the series, Ms. Blake created this almost a** backwards world with a pre-Industrial Revolution feel and a dose of modernism. And I have loved every bit of it. Jason and Vale ignited the pages and created a force of nature unrivaled in comparison to other sexy reads.

I adored the characterization of both men. Ms. Blake delivered loving and caring matches that gave credence to her world building and depth to the storyline.

As a fan of the series, seeing Jason and Vale get more than their HEA was a wonderful addition to the series. A series which should be read in order to enjoy the new world order; and even though the stigmas of omegas run rampant, Ms. Blake massaged the antiquated laws and made the read enjoyable.

Bitter Heat by Leta Blake was everything I hoped for and more. Janus and Kerry finally got their story and their need for redemption. Luckily, they had each other to hold onto and forged ahead,
Janus decided mountain life was just what he needed to become a new man with a magnanimous profession. Kerry needed the solitude of his pater’s home away from the city; a place to heal and birth his child.

Ms. Blake delivered a story straight out of early turn of the century Americana, where the rights of the lesser were nonexistent and the alpha male held all the power. A mixture of old and new, the author melded two completely different mind sets and delivered a well-crafted story.

A society of all males, where everyone has his place, I wondered if some of the storyline was ripped straight from today’s headlines. I saw images of human trafficking, sexual assault, a lack of rights for those of a lesser status, economic and religious differences, and the right to have a say over one’s own body. I was inspired by Ms. Blake’s take on the issues of the day as she personified each dilemma and gave it life.

A must read! Bitter Heat hit all the buttons.

S.E.X. Review~ Cowboy Seeks Husband by Blake & Vaughn

Length: 94,000 words approx.

Cover Design: Dar Albert

Blurb

Walker Reed's Louisiana cattle ranch is in debt after costly repairs from hurricane damage. To get the money, his family schemes to make Walker the star of a new bachelor reality series: Queer Seeks Spouse. How hard can it be to fake interest in a dozen handsome men for a few weeks in exchange for enough money to solve all of their problems?

Roan Carmichael never got his Masters degree after his mother was diagnosed with cancer. With medical bills piling up, and a costly experimental treatment available, Roan signs on to be a suitor on Queer Seeks Spouse. While he hates having to leave his sick mother long enough to win the cash for her treatment, he's willing to do whatever it takes.

Can two men who are just in it for the money fake their way into real and lasting love?

Cowboy Seeks Husband, the latest book by Vespertine authors Leta Blake and Indra Vaughn, features a cowboy, a hipster, opposites attract, steamy scenes, and heart tugging moments that will leave you wanting more.

Excerpt

“We’re going what?”

“Noodling.” Walker looked far too calm. And smug. Roan figured this probably heralded danger in brooding southern cowboys.

“And I need these.” Roan held up the waterproof bib overalls.

Walker smirked. He had his arms folded over his chest and was leaning against the doorjamb of the kitchen. Roan had been cornered there by Walker and John while making sour apple tea. “Technically you don’t, but I’m sure you’ll want to wear them.”

Roan narrowed his eyes. “But that means we’re going into the water. I know what lives in your water down here. Alligators. And venomous snakes. I googled.”

“Now, why would you do that?” Walker dramatically slapped his forehead, then leaned in closer as if to share a secret. Roan leaned in too, drawn to Walker’s firm, muscled body and cheerful brown eyes, despite his probable imminent death on this so-called date. “Here’s the thing: gators aren’t that aggressive really. You probably won’t even see one. They want to stay as far away from you as you do from them.”

“Really?”

“No. But it makes it easier to get in the water if you tell yourself that.”

Roan stared at him.

“But, seriously, I’m not scared of the gators, and if there was a real, true danger, you know they wouldn’t let us anywhere near the water.”

Roan swallowed hard. The morning light from the kitchen window highlighted the little wrinkles at the edges of Walker’s eyes. Probably from squinting into fields all day. The man even smelled like fresh-cut grass and fresh air.

“As for the snakes, yeah…well.” Walker shrugged. “You just have to make sure you don’t wander into a nest of moccasins. I’m sure the set nurse has antivenom on hand.”

“Water moccasins. The shoe snakes.”

“They don’t look anything like shoes.”

Roan put the waterproof overalls on the counter. “Oh my God, I’m going to die.”

Walker straightened, and the attractive, teasing grin fell from his face. “Seriously, though, if you don’t want to do it, just say so. I won’t hold it against you.”

“If you say bless your heart, I’ll know exactly what you mean,” Roan grumbled. Walker laughed, and God. He was so damn handsome. Feeling his face heat, Roan looked down at the dry bib overalls. They were pretty thick. Maybe the fabric would stop the snake bites. “Fine, I’ll come.”

“I’m mighty glad.”

“You should be.”

Between the threat of biting critter, the thrill of Walker’s sweet drawl, and the headiness of his eager attention, Roan’s head was a swirl. Leaving his tea behind untasted, he stomped away for some privacy to get changed, ignoring John who said, “That’s got to be the most reluctant acceptance of a date I’ve ever seen. Andy’s going to love it.”

I don’t know what reality TV shows are really like behind the scenes, but after reading Cowboy Seeks Husband, I have to imagine it’s the craziness delivered in this book. Leta Blake and Indra Vaughn wrote a fun, sassy, and sometime angst-filled book which kept me riveted. I was transformed into reality show mode, and imagined the folly it takes to get the episodes from film to show.

Walker, the hunky Louisiana cowboy and the new bachelor of Queer Seeks Spouse was “talked” into the star role, the use of the family ranch, and a boatload of money if he made it to the end.

What a roller coaster ride. The male contestants added levity and drama to the storyline, both in the book and the show. Each man came with his own agenda.

Roan had one goal in mind. Make it through the majority of the filming process in order to collect a nice sum of money, in the hopes of helping his very sick mother. What Roan didn’t count on was the hunky cowboy who stole his heart.

Blake and Vaughn delivered sweet romance as the main characters found themselves and each other. Walker’s portrayal of the study cowboy was spot on with his manners and mannerisms. And Roan’s shy nature tugged at this reader’s heartstrings as well as Walker’s.
The producers and others involved with the show drove me batty with their not-so-nice attitudes and I don’t know if I can ever watch another reality without wondering if it took them many takes and staging’s to get the perfect shot and dialogue.

Kudos to the authors for keeping me engrossed even after I finished the book.
Cowboy Seeks Husband will make you smile & laugh and at times rant & cry.

Can true love warm his frozen heart?

When Casey Stevens went away to college four years ago, he ghosted on his straight best friend, Joel Vreeland. He hoped time and distance would lessen the unrequited affection he felt, but all it did was make him miss Joel more. Home for the holidays, Casey hopes they might find a way to be friends again. But Joel’s frosty reception reminds Casey of just how hard he had to fight to be Joel’s friend in the first place. It’s going to take a Christmas miracle to get past that cool façade again.

Joel isn’t as straight as Casey believes, and his years of pining for Casey have left him hurting and alone, caring for his abusive father and struggling to get by. Unable to trust anyone except his rescue dog—and with no reason to believe Casey is interested in him for more than a holiday fling—Joel’s icy heart might shatter before it can thaw.

Can Casey and Joel’s love overcome mistrust, parental rejection, class differences, and four long years apart? Mr. Frosty Pants is a stand-alone, Christmas gay romance by Leta Blake featuring a virgin hero, childhood friends-to-lovers, second chance romance, and steamy mm first times.

The time of the year when cheesy Christmas romances inundate our in boxes has arrived. But, I can safely say that Mr. Frosty Pants by Leta Blake was not one of them. Ms. Blake wrote of love lost, second chances, and timeless love through adversity.

Casey and Joel loved each other since high school, yet each had their own reasons for not letting on their feelings, or even coming out as a gay youth. Now, in their early twenties, their lives have taken different paths, but ultimately converging back to each other.

Ms. Blake delivered a heart-felt warm and tender story of two men; one who was afraid to live and love, the other who knew what he wanted and grabbed it by the horns.

Casey’s ability to see through Joel’s rough and frosty exterior, endeared him to this reader and had me falling in love from the start. Joel’s tumultuous life left little for him to feel good about, until Casey bulldozed into him and made him feel like anything was possible.

Together they forged ahead through adversity and found a timeless love, which the author lead us to believe would be in place for years to come.

Even though their new relationship took days to come to fruition, Ms. Blake added enough detail and past experiences, that as I reader, I was not left with a feeling of wham bam, thank you- let’s profess our undying love.

The writing was beautifully articulated and the characterization of both men flawlessly flawed.

A wonderful start to my holiday season reading binge.

Length: 15hrs 22 mins

Heat of Love Series

Book #1 - Slow Heat - Audible US | Audible UK

Blurb

A desperate young alpha. An older alpha with a hero complex. A forbidden love that can’t be denied.

Young Xan Heelies knows he can never have what he truly wants: a passionate romance and happy ever after with another alpha. It’s not only forbidden by the prevailing faith of the land, but such acts are illegal.

Urho Chase is a middle-aged alpha with a heartbreaking past. Careful, controlled, and steadfast, his friends dub him old-fashioned and staid. When Urho discovers a dangerous side to Xan’s life that he never imagined, his world is rocked, and he’s consumed by desire. The carefully sewn seams that held him together after the loss of his omega and son come apart - and so does he.

But to love each other and make a life together, Xan and Urho risk utter ruin. With the acceptance and support of Caleb, Xan’s asexual and aromantic omega and dear friend, they must find the strength to embrace danger and build the family they deserve.

This gay-romance novel by Leta Blake is the second in the Slow Heat universe. It has a strong, happy ending and a well-crafted non-shifter omegaverse. It features alphas, betas, omegas, male pregnancy, heat, and knotting. No cheating. Content warning for brief sexual violence.

The continuation of Leta Blake’s Slow Heat, Alpha Heat furthered delivered the story of Jason and Vale, expanding on characters Xan, Urho, and Caleb. The introduction of a ménage in a world of forbidden desires, sexual expectations, and a strict caste system, Xan, Urho, and Caleb forged a union of circumstance and need.

As an alpha, Xan was to contract an omega and produce an heir to carry on the lineage. Alphas held the physical power, sexual power, and above all were never penetrated (lest he be unmanned).Unfortunately for Xan, his desires lent itself more to an omega than an alpha. This affected his sexual desires which transcended to his sexual exploration.

The author characterized Xan’s personality as confused and self-loathing, while attempting to allow him to find his place in a world where differences were not tolerated, even ostracized. Xan found some redemption in his contracted asexual omega partner, Caleb. Sweet and understanding, Xan and Caleb made their union their own, albeit some complications.

Urho, very alpha and in charge, intimated a relationship with Xan, his alpha-omega, thus cementing their triad and going against the norm.

While I liked each character, the heavy handedness of the dominant alpha and the ease in which the omega permitted it, brought forth a circa early 1900’s feel- a time when women had no say and the male ruled the roost. Elements of BDSM lifestyle also prevailed, an alpha who sought someone who punished him for his desires, omegas who held the power in the relationship (as a submissive), along with some light spanking.

Ms. Blake truly has a gift to design an all-male world, finding a gender-related role for each.

Michael Ferraiulo did a wonderful job with the narration of Alpha Heat. I appreciated the inflection and modulation of his voice, so that each male character sounded different in tone, pitch, and design. I can only imagine how difficult it must be to infuse believability into the characters you are narrating, but Mr. Ferraiulo did it impeccably. I was drawn into the story even more so than when I previously read it, and I gained a better understanding of Ms. Blake’s characters and world.
