S.E.X. Review~ Irrevocably Intertwined by Frey Ortega

Jayce Barton’s life doesn’t need any more trouble than it already has: having a poor family and having them somewhat blame you for it was already trouble enough. To top it all off, Jayce gets kidnapped one night and finds himself in an unknown, ritzy apartment.

Dmitri Marchetti is the son of one of the strongest vampire coven leaders in New York City. When his coven uncovers new intel on a human-supernatural trafficking ring right in their midst, their coven immediately acts. Jayce and Dmitri meet, and the sparks fly. The easygoing Dmitri finds renewed purpose: something he’s never felt before, and he finds it in Jayce.

With the threat of a crazed madman looming above Jayce, Dmitri vows to protect the human. But even vampires have their limits—and it will take a lot of love, a lot of trust, and a hastily-put-together plan to save not only the man he was growing to love, but each other.

Irrevocably Intertwined by Frey Ortega further builds upon the Into the New World series. Jayce is kidnapped from his home and sold as a sex slave. If not for the intervention of a very old vampire family the Marchetti’s, Jayce would not have faired so well. He is immediately drawn to Dimitri Marchetti and vice versa where lust at first sight runs rampant.

Once again, Mr. Ortega takes a shy human and makes him a larger than life character who adds substance and depth to the story. Jayce’s dilemmas in life directly impacted his decisions regarding Dimitri, yet I felt they were not the only factor—Jayce knew his mind and clearly stated it.

Dimitri and Jayce traversed a slippery slope as the need and desire to bond rides at both of them—all happening very quickly, but never diminishing the pace of the story.

I anxiously await Mr. Ortega’s subsequent books in the series. Rude Awakening (1) and Irrevocably Intertwined catapulted the reader into a fascinating world where humans and paranormals do not mix, let alone humans are aware of them. Frey Ortega has manipulated this quandary and opened up a series of thrill rides. Kudos!

S.E.X. Review~ Rude Awakening by Frey Ortega

Ethan Thackeray is a 21-year-old who has his share of problems, like the fact that he gets attacked by a group of vicious gay-bashers coming out of a club. Enter Adam James, a werewolf alpha who just happened to be at the right place at the right time. After a night in the hospital, Ethan wakes to an introduction to his savior, and sparks fly.

Adam feels something strong, pulling him towards Ethan in a way he can’t describe. The catch, however, is that humanity doesn’t know about the existence of supernatural beings, and after an eventual romantic tryst, Adam becomes 100% sure Ethan is his true mate: the mate fate intertwined into his life.

With rogue shifters in his pack’s periphery and having to be honest to the person who completes him, Adam is distraught. Will Adam and Ethan find their happily ever after, or will Ethan have a rude awakening to the world of the supernatural? 

Rude Awakening was my first introduction to author Frey Ortega and will not be the last. The book was thoroughly entertaining and the characters larger-than-life.

Adam, alpha to a small Manhattan pack rescued a human and discovered the man may be his mate. Adam was stoic and reserved, but open to the emotional upheaval Ethan entering his life would cause.

Ethan’s characterization delivered funny and quick dialogue. His carefree yet socially awkward attitude kept me interested and smiling as he fought through his immediate attraction to Adam and the fortitude to work on their relationship.

My only concern, was the ‘alpha male previously married but now completely okay with discovering a male mate and taking to sex like fish to water’. If the character was supposed to be bi-sexual, then go for it. This in no way detracted from the book~ it’s probably more a personal choice. And, Mr. Ortega explained and clarified throughout the book.

I loved Ethan’s tight-knit group of friends and I look forward to seeing more of them in the future.

Mr. Ortega has captured my attention and I hope to read more of his work.
