S.E.X. Review~ Bite~ Various Authors

Buy Links: Amazon US | Amazon UK | Universal Link - Exclusive to Amazon and Available to Borrow with Kindle Unlimited

Vampires old and new, strong and sensual, with desires both predatory and protective. Their attraction is fierce and fascinating, and their love is eternal. We believe they deserve a very special kind of man—and their own happily ever after.

Four best-selling authors bring you their own take on the vampire lover’s story.

In Out of Time by Clare London, the ancient vampire Ambrus tries to protect Edward, a newly-turned young man, hoping to bring him comfort, acceptance of his fate, and eventually love.

In Christmas for a Vampire by Ruby Moone, grief-stricken vampire, Ellis Davenport, faces a miserable, lonely life when it seems the love of his life prefers death to eternity with him.

In A Tale Told in Darkness by Sue Brown, Lee comforts his lover with the tale of Brook, a vampire who falls for his neighbour Michael. When the young man is pursued by someone far more dangerous, only Brook can save him.

In Lamb to the Slaughter by Joanna Chambers, there is very little Lucien St. Villiers enjoys more than hunting for beautiful young men who are eager to learn all that Lucien has to teach them.

Please note: these stories may also be individually available for purchase at various times. This collection is a special event for 2019.

Bite was a compilation of short vampire stories by Clare London, Sue Brown, Joanna Chambers, and Ruby Moone. Each tale took a pairing and delivered a sweet read.

Out of Time by C. London brought Ambrose and Edward from war through the century, lost and then found. Edward’s constant searching for something more always led him away from Ambrus, but years later, always right back to him. Little did Edward know, that what he was searching for all along was the vampire in front of him. Sweet and loving, Ambrus and Edward’s love story was the classic lost lovers eventually reunited. (4 handcuffs)

Christmas for a Vampire by Ruby Moone was sadly sweet. Ellis and Quinn fought.  In war and were separate by death. Many years go by and Ellis still pines for the man he wanted to spend his life with. Uncontrollable circumstances kept the men apart until they found each other again. This sweet tale hit all the buttons and kept the notion true love does exist. (4 handcuffs)

A Tale Told in Darkness by Sue Brown was the most emotional of the short stories and the one which reduced this reader to tears. Cal and Lee were lovers who loved to tell stories. One such story Lee told Cal in the dark was of Brook and Michael, destined to be together, even if one was vampire and the other human. Ms. Brown delivered gritty and an emotional roller coaster that stood out amongst the other stories. I would love to see this story expanded! (5 handcuffs)

Lamb to the Slaughter by Joanna Chambers delivered an unsuspecting twist to the pairing of Lucien and Marcus. No spoilers, but remember looks could be deceiving and sweet & innocent may not truly be. A quick story, Ms. Chambers kept me interested.

Overall, each story delivered a different perspective on vampires and the “life” led. Whether the interaction with fellow vampires or humans, the authors did a nice job of bringing life to their stories and creating a world in few pages.

Romancing The...

Trust is the most precious jewel of all.

When Mayfair jewelers Starsmith Stones wins the commission for a gay royal wedding, CEO Joel Sterling is recommended to the brilliant young designer Matt Barth—only to discover Matt’s the man with whom he shared an anonymous and passionate kiss on the celebration night.

Disenchanted with the commercial jewelry industry, Matt nowadays prefers muddy archaeological digs to designing. Openly resentful of Starsmith’s hostile takeover of his family’s firm, he is horrified at the realization he’ll be working with the man who engineered that deal—but the opportunity to create something fabulous and unique for the royal couple is too tempting to refuse.

Working as a team reignites the spark between Joel and Matt. But when betrayal from within Starsmith threatens both the project and Joel’s confidence, will they have built enough trust to keep their newfound love as precious as the royal jewels?

Romancing the Rough Diamond by Clare London was a nice read of passionate men, both, personally and professionally. I enjoyed Joel and Matt’s story. The romance was a slow burn, the initial attraction apparent, but the realization of a potential union was fast on the horizon.

Ms. London gave both men life while staying true to this respective perspectives. I enjoyed the history lesson of jewelry making as it added a new dimension to the overall story.

The conflict was minimalist and enough to keep this reader intrigued and wanting more.
Romancing the Rough Diamond hit all the marks.

S.E.X. Spotlight & Review~ Romancing the Wrong Twin by Clare London

Clare London - Romancing The Wrong Twin

Author: Clare London

Release Date: November 1 2016

Length: 59,000 words

Blurb

How tangled can a romantic web get?

When gruff mountaineer Dominic Hartington-George seeks sponsorship for his latest expedition, his London PA insists on a more media-friendly profile—like dating celebrity supermodel Zeb Z.

Zeb can’t make the date, so he asks his identical twin, Aidan, to stand in for just one evening. Aidan, a struggling playwright, shuns the limelight to the extent people don’t even know Zeb has a sibling, but he reluctantly agrees.

When the deception has to continue beyond the first date, Aidan fights to keep up the pretense. Dominic likes his sassy, intelligent companion, and Aidan starts falling for the forthright explorer. But how long can Aidan’s conscience cope as confusion abounds? Will coming clean as “the other twin” destroy the trust they’ve built?

Excerpt

Dom wandered into his kitchen, opened the fridge, shut it again. Turned on the kettle, switched it off. Food and drink didn’t tempt or soothe him as they usually would. He was restless because he had to sort things out. Dom didn’t shirk his duty, however unpleasant, and he always got things done. Those skills made him an excellent leader on a climb but didn’t seem to translate into normal, London-based life. His mother always relished pointing that out to him. Only the last time she’d visited, she’d scorned his frustration at not having the money to mount the Eiger expedition.

“I can’t help that,” she’d said crisply. “Your father and his ancestors have never had a head for money. If I hadn’t invested what money I brought to the family in property, we’d be living on the charity of others by now.”

Dom had almost bitten his tongue in half, trying not to point out that his high-handed mother hadn’t engendered any charitable feelings in anyone he’d ever met. “I’m not asking for charity. When my book comes out, I’ll be able to repay a lot of the debts.”

Or so his publisher had told him. They’d been thrilled with the photos from previous expeditions, but he had to finish the current climbing program before they’d consider a release slot.

“Well, don’t come to me,” she’d said. “I barely have enough to maintain a decent social calendar in town. Can’t you find some rich man to support your wandering ways?” She managed to make it sound as if he were philandering rather than mountaineering. His parents might have accepted him being gay, but they still had some pretty deeply ingrained prejudices about the “lifestyle.”

“It doesn’t work like that,” he snapped. “At least, not for me.”

His mother’s look had been odd. “Do you mean to tell me you’re a romantic at heart, just like your father?”

Dom had been startled. Somehow he’d never considered his imposing, adventurous father as a hearts-and-flowers man.

“Oh, not toward me.” At seeing the look on his face, she’d sighed rather bitterly. “The romance was all for his beloved mountains.”

“I’m not like that,” Dom had protested.

He had more to offer, didn’t he? He could offer a man something other than holding the fort back at home while he, Dom, traveled the world and conquered the elements. If he found a man he wanted to make those sacrifices for, of course.

Unbidden, Zeb’s face popped into his mind. And when he refocused on where he was and what he was doing, he found he was holding a dishcloth in his right hand and—inexplicably—a single egg in the other. His mind was so far off-kilter he was scaring himself.

Well, there was only one thing for it. He had to make this right, and not just for the sponsors either. He glanced around but couldn’t see where he’d slung his phone. He ought to see if Zeb had replied to his text—if he’d even acknowledged him. But maybe he’d go around to Zeb’s agency first and see if he could find the model there. That had to be better than a bald message.

Yes, that was a decent plan.

He grabbed his jacket and flung open his front door, where a blizzard of flashbulbs assaulted him.

“Dom!”

“Dom, are you going to meet Zeb Z?”

The photographers hung over his front hedge, regardless of any potential damage to the foliage or their clothes. Dom made a mental note to ask the young man who did his garden maintenance whether they could embed barbed wire in the shrubbery. Reporters called eagerly from behind the cameras, as if Dom would be remotely interested in engaging with them. He would rather have torn off his left arm and fed it to a passing dog. Or perhaps a reporter’s arm would be more rewarding, for both the dog and Dom.

“Dom! Over here, let’s have a shot!”

“How long have you two been dating? What do you talk about?”

“Is he in charge of your wardrobe now?”

“Dom, how about a word for our readers?”

Dom drew a deep, deep breath. He wouldn’t normally censor the actual word he was tempted to give “our readers,” but Tanya’s words about taking it easy rang clearly in his memory. He suddenly imagined Zeb’s face after reading the headlines in the gossip press if Dom actually spewed the profanities he was currently thinking.

A feeling even more bizarre…. Dom couldn’t ever remember worrying what a man thought of him before doing exactly what he bloody well wanted.

He struggled through the crowd toward his SUV, with his lips pursed shut and sporting the most intimidating frown he could manage. He slammed the door temptingly near a reporter’s hand and revved the engine until they all scattered out of his way.

“Is he in charge of your wardrobe now?”
Bloody hell.

Romancing the Wrong Twin by Clare London was light, airy, and feel good. Dom and Aidan were sharp and witty as they traversed their fake relationship into something genuine and substantial.

What started out as helping his model twin brother, Aidan reluctantly took Zeb's place for a promo date with mountaineer Dom- gruff, ill mannered, and boisterous. Aidan was instantly drawn to the bear’s personality, but fear of discovery held him back.

I loved the character development and the relationship progression. The initial meeting and date were the perfect foreplay to Ms. London's delivery of a choreographed dance with larger than life characters and carefully written secondary ones. Even when the jig was up and Dom discovered the truth, the drama unfolded quickly but with substance, as opposed to long and drawn out with unnecessary words.

Ms. London- a beautifully written tale that placed a smile on my face.

S.E.X. Review~ Flashbulb by Clare London

Blythe Harris was taking his first flight to the USA and hopefully a whole new client base for his bespoke upholstery business. An adventure for him, he was both nervous and excited to attract the attention of a handsome steward. Things might have gone further – if Flight HA1710 hadn’t failed.

Marc Stafford is a self-confessed player, and he used his charm to seduce his cute passenger. But in the aftermath of the crash, he’s struggling to recover his confidence. The TV declares him a hero for saving passengers, but at night his nightmares trigger painful flashbulb memories of the crash.

In an Irish hospital, Bly realises that although his broken leg will recover, his career may not. And in Chicago, Marc can’t face returning to work. Neither of them can shake off the memory of their brief, sexy encounter. Both of them need to be with someone who understands exactly what they’ve been through. And on a middle ground they can make all their own.

Usually the main characters in a book have something in common. They both work in some sort of law enforcement, they’re both some sort of paranormal- but what if the only thing they had in common was the very thing that could have driven them apart- they both are survivors of a plane crash? This concept is the very thing that Clare London did in her new book, Flashbulb, Flight HA1710 #3- and succeeded beautifully.

Bly and Marc were in the ill-fated flight HA1710 when it crashed in Ireland. Worlds apart in their lives- a quick airplane bathroom tryst left them both yearning and intrigued until separated after the crash.

Ms. London delivered an agonizing yet heartwarming tale of survivor’s guilt and PTSD- demonstrating the necessity to find meaning in what surrounds us and the tenacity of the human spirit.

The struggles Ms. London depicted were valid as PTSD comes from many experiences and the niggling of guilt when you feel you just could have done more were extremely realistic.

The author’s characterization of Marc and Bly were warm and tender as each man came to terms with his own misgivings and attempted to find their way back to each other, even when they were together.

Beautifully written—when life throws a curve ball, embrace it for its positivity and not the “woo is me” attitude.
