As a fan of Ms. Miller, especially her Shadow Unit series, I looked forward to reading her new book. Stronger Together, Partners 1 was a nice read. Set in the 1970s, and not present day, the author did a nice job of capturing the decade. In saying that, there were times that I felt as if I was in and Austin Powers movie, but enjoyed the book nonetheless.

Liam and Colin were partners in the British Secret Service and made an amazing team on the force. Unfortunately, their secret desires of more were unbeknownst to each other until a forced vacation led them to a secluded cottage where they were able to act on their feelings.

Ms. Miller gave us nice quips, banter between two likable characters, and sexy scenes. I look forward to seeing the direction the series will take as 1970s was not even a ‘don’t ask, don’t tell’ atmosphere, but a termination one where acceptance was not a thing. I hope to see Liam and Colin grow in their love for each other and in their support.

Friends with Benefits was a quick read and part of the Friends to Lover series by HJ Perry but can be read as a stand-alone. Dylan and Jaime, friends for some time, always found companionship in each other, especially when the other was not dating- not a sexual relationship.

Soon the friendship turned to one with benefits, but I found it to be one-sided. Jamie was attracted to Dylan in all ways possible, but I felt Dylan used Jamie for his own sexual release, and nothing more.

Dylan continuously professed Jaime wasn’t his type-to anyone who’d listen- his mother, friends, etc. Yet, when sex arose (no pun intended), Dylan as onboard. I never connected with Dylan, as his stereotypical jabs unnerved this reader and I found it a bit condescending. Why does there have to be a more masculine an in the relationship and a more feminine one? I was bothered by this assumption.

Once I was able to get past my own misgivings, I found the book charming and cute. Ms. Perry made their relationship work and both men got what they wanted in the end.

A friends-to-lovers, feel-good gay romance. Contains a whole lot of man-on-man love action, and an elopement to Gretna Green for a secret wedding. 

Impulsive and romantic, Connor is set to take over the family business, Sky High Scaffolds, with his siblings. But he might be ruled out as possible CEO, because even though he's almost thirty, he's still single. 
Connor makes a life-changing chance discovery about a member of his construction team. Lee is gay, but no one at work knows. The macho scaffolding crew aren’t known for their gay-friendliness. 

At twenty-nine years of age, sexy scaffolder Lee is looking for love and commitment. He’s not about to hook up with any straight guy who’s going through a gay experimental phase. Especially not his work colleague, Connor.

Standalone novel with a happy ending. 

Our Secret Wedding by HJ Perry was a nice read with lovely characters. Connor and Lee were friends since elementary school, getting into trouble as youths, and co-workers as adults. Connor, soon to inherit the family construction company, kept his true feelings for Lee from his family, but pursued Lee relentlessly. Quickly the friends to lovers escalated and the men enjoyed each other’s company at work and at home.

I enjoy reading a friends to lovers’ trope, and Our Secret Wedding did not disappoint. The relationship went from zero to sixty at lightning speed, but the author’s deliverance was well crafted. I enjoyed the world building and the secondary characters.

Connor and Lee were likeable and sweet and I look forward to reading the continuation of their story.

Just This Once by A.J. Ridges was a quick, sexy read of friends to lovers with a different twist. Having known each other in school, never really associating, Nick and Seth found themselves working for the same company.

Seth was out and proud, while Nick played the straight card although he had feelings for Seth that remained unresolved. Playing a dangerous game with the potentiality to back fire, Nick approached Seth to teach him the ways of anal sex~ so he could have sex with his girlfriend.

For a quick read, A.J. Ridges delivered steamy goodness with left little to the imagination. The banter, the sex, the emotional angst kept this reader interested and on the edge. My only complaint~ longer would have been better.

Just This Once brought unrequited love to the forefront and a necessity to create a sexual fantasy overrode either man’s desire to remain alone. Seth and Nick were perfect for each other, complimentary physically and emotionally.
