Another winning
series by Morticia Knight, Kiss of Leather book 2, Safe Limits was
a beautiful journey of discovery and triumph of spirit. Corey arrived in town a
broken man, abused by a Dom whose sole purpose was to intimidate and maltreat.
Left in the careful and watchful hands of Dom Derek, both Corey and Derek begin
a journey that will deliver mutual satisfaction and care.
Ms.
Knight’s characterization of Corey was chockfull of
secret desires to belong to a man who cherished him and made him feel safe. I
found Corey to be a strong, soulful young man who fought an uphill battle to
gain freedom and happiness.
Derek was every man’s
bear dream. Larger than life, with a big
personality and a quirky sense of humor, Ms.
Knight portrayed him aptly as the perfect fit for Corey.
Although Safe Limits
revolved around Derek and Corey, the author did not fail to integrate Gavin and
Kyle from Building Bonds and the other
secondary characters. The story was well-developed and kept a pace that was
both interesting and entertaining.
Dark aspects of an
abusive BDSM relationship fringed the story, but did not overpower. This aspect
was woven throughout, but there was never any doubt an HEA would be achieved.
The series Kiss of Leather may be about a BDSM club
owned by three close friends, but the series is so much more. The lives of the
men are at the forefront and the club is simply a catalyst for the reader to
delve into their lives.
