Morgan’s family met their unfortunate demise, catapulting him into the role of alpha at 16. Learning everything he could and always placing his pack first, Morgan became a twenty-something his pack could be proud of. The one thing Morgan lacked and desired, was a mate and family of his own.

Ricky, a Psi Omega, was without a mate until he and his alpha traveled to Morgan’s pack and Morgan’s scent hit him like a freight train. Ricky “threw” himself at his mate, had a sexual encounter with him, and then panicked and left. Of course, that is when all the even crazier stuff happened.

Cardeno C found the perfect mates for each in Morgan and Ricky, even if communication was not their strong suit. The character development was slow uphill but in a good way. This allowed the reader to enjoy the men and the relationship they built. They were both sweet characters and complimented each other.

I genuinely enjoyed Golden Valley and reading Cardeno C once again. Her works always put a smile on my face and enjoyment in my heart. The pace was well delivered as were explanation, placing the reader in the story and living through the eyes of the MCs.

This is a must read. Sweet, low angst, and wonderful characters, Golden Valley hit just the right spot. Definite S.E.X. without being overly sexual

As a fan of Annabelle Jacobs and her Regents Park Pack, I looked forward to reading the start of her new series Rebellion. Escape did not disappoint, and kept this reader intrigued and on the edge the entire time. A new spin where shifters took over the governments and humans were second class citizens and had little choices in life.

Human Cole reached his twenty fifth birthday, and along with others who drew the lottery, tested for the potential shifter make up; strength, endurance, and skill set. Once Cole’s DNA proved worthy he was courted by London’s largest pack for their slightly nefarious unit.

Logan, a shifter with the McKillan pack, was in charge of recruiting Cole and “forcing” him to join and accept the bite.

Logan also had a secret which Cole soon became privy as it unfolded throughout the tale.

Ms. Jacobs took us on a roller coaster ride of emotions and suspense as Logan and Cole tried to keep ahead of those who wanted to hurt Cole and eventually Logan. Not everything was as it seemed and the fast-paced storyline took us from zero to sixty in no time flat. The dynamics between the characters was evident and each character played an integral part in the overall tale.

I enjoyed the start of this new series and even though the story did not completely end with an HEA, the necessity was apparent for the next book to continue the series.

S.E.X. Review~ How to Howl at the Moon by Eli Easton

Sheriff Lance Beaufort is not going to let trouble into his town, no sir. Tucked away in the California mountains, Mad Creek has secrets to keep, like the fact that half the town consists of ‘quickened’—dogs who have gained the ability to become human. Descended on both sides from Border Collies, Lance is as alert a guardian as they come. 

Tim Weston is looking for a safe haven. After learning that his boss patented all of Tim’s work on vegetable hybrids in his own name, Tim quit his old job. A client offers him use of her cabin in Mad Creek, and Tim sees a chance for a new start. But the shy gardener has a way of fumbling and sounding like a liar around strangers, particularly gorgeous alpha men like Sheriff Beaufort. 

Lance’s hackles are definitely raised by the lanky young stranger. He’s concerned about marijuana growers moving into Mad Creek, and he’s not satisfied with the boy’s story. Lance decides a bit of undercover work is called for. When Tim hits a beautiful black collie with his car and adopts the dog, its love at first sight for both Tim and Lance’s inner dog. Pretending to be a pet is about to get Sheriff Beaufort in very hot water. 

How to Howl at the Moon by Eli Easton was adorable and sweet. I fell in love with border collie shifter Lance and human Tim right from the beginning. Ms. Easton delivered levity with a bit of angst and turned this story into a fun read.

Lance’s border collie was tenacious and ever present, while Tim was serious with a playful edge, and together they made the perfect pair.

Ms. Easton created a new shifter world, adding elements not seen in other shifter books, and dogs?~ an added bonus.

Lance’s meddling mother Lily, was wonderfully nosy, sweet, and always at the ready. I adored her exuberant personality and her ability to make all feel welcome. Additionally, the other secondary characters, Gus and Roman, added to the storyline, making it all the better.

The first book in this series, a book well worth the read.

Prophesy II: The Bringer of Wrath by A.E. Via was a wonderful addition to the King and Alpha series, and while I enjoyed the book, I also had some mild reservations. I absolutely adored book 1 in the series and hoped this one would live up to the same expectations, but it fell a little bit short.

Alek, the second alpha son and beta to his older brother Justice had a conflicted inner spirit. The man. The wolf. The wrath. All three in one body, yet living separately when they appear in physical form. The three in one through me for a loop, and at times was confusing to reconcile.

Bell, best friend to the vampire king and leader of his army, was Alek’s fated mate; a powerful vampire in his own right.

Where I had the conflicting issues was Bell’s “roll over” attitude with Alek when he too was a powerful being. Additionally, why did Alek appear to be more powerful than his brother, the alpha zenith; in charge of all shifters.

Ms. Via also continued to allude to the prophesy, but we are no closer to discovering what it is; of course leading the way for more books in the series, with more brothers to mate.

Even with my trepidations concerning the second book in the series, I look forward to the next one, if only to see more of the supporting characters, as well as Justice and Wick.

S.E.X. Review~ Blackwood by Pia Foxhall

In a world that is still getting used to shifters, where everyone thinks omegas are second class citizens, nature photographer and omega Braden Payne lets everyone think he’s a beta. That way no one gives him a hard time and he doesn’t have to live a repeat of his failed relationship. But when his car breaks down in the remote Blackwood forest in Western Australia, without the medication that lets him hide who he is, he’s faced with what he fears most: an unmated alpha.

Government forest guardian and alpha Coll MacDubhar is tired of illegal loggers, foolish tourists and people who underestimate the wilds of Western Australia. He discovers Braden lost and in need of medical assistance in the forest he protects and knows something’s not right.

But there’s hidden depths to Braden that capture his interest, and no decent alpha would walk away when Braden’s unwelcome past comes to visit.

Pia Foxhall’s Blackwood, Perth Shifters 1 was an intriguing read; a bit slow to start, lots of characters with changing POV’s, but it picked up and was worth the follow through. Ms. Foxhall delivered a different world of alphas, betas, and omegas. Rights of the omegas were hard pressed to be found-abuse, indifference, and nonchalance- all a part of the world in which an omega lived. Braden was such an omega until he met Coll, and alpha forester, with a penchant to fight for the underdog.

The dynamics between the two men radiated throughout the author’s writing and portrayal. Both men were strong characters with driven personalities. They messed together well and delivered a steady story.

I appreciated the nuances Ms. Foxhall interspersed throughout adding more substance to the storyline and world building although the story ended with an HEA, the ending left much room for the stories to come and the weaving of the main characters into the lives of subsequent characters. 

I enjoyed the tale and look forward to seeing where Braden and Coll’s relationship lands.

The poachers lead Brock and Connor on a merry chase all over Western Colorado looking for shifter bears, but it’s a lost pup who brings them back to Nevada and the pack Sam and Gus are building. That’s when Brock has to decide whether he still travels alone or if Connor and his crazy family are where his heart belongs.

This follow-up to Just Like Cats and Dogs is a feel-good shifter romance novel where cats and dogs prove they can be way more than the enemies nature has made them.

Just Like Cats and Dogs by BA Tortuga was on my top twenty list of shifter books and book two in the Sanctuary series- What the Cat Dragged In has now been placed there as well.

Connor and Brock were as yummy as Sam and Gus in book one. Connor found things- his instincts and feelings allowed him to roam, rescue, and sometimes bring home- this time he found his mate.

Brock assisted the Fish & Game Department and a few shifter bears in dealing with illegal bear poaching. Together Connor and Brock tore up the poachers and unfortunately themselves.

Ms. Tortuga has a way with her writing- very distinctive and fulfilling- her character development gave depth to all persons involved and made them come to life off the pages.

Sexy men gave way to sexy scenes scorching the e-reader and placing a smile on my face.

All the characters entwined thus accentuating the world building of the series. The addition of new babies, the bears, and the hint of a third book captured my attention and left me wanting for more.

What the Cat Dragged In was charming, funny, and sexy- adding credence to Ms. Tortuga's ability to write a captivating tale.

To Touch You by Cardeno C. has brought the Mate series to a close and this book was well worth the wait. Yoram and Salvatore were a special couple, meeting for the first time when Yoram was seven years old, the young wolf knew his destined true mate was the man his uncles needed to save.

As a child, Yoram was devilishly adorable, and through Cardeno C’s writing the precocious wolf shifter lit the pages with his straight forward sense of right and love. Salvatore, his destined mate, and turned vampire was in need of love and companionship which he found in the adult Yoram- who waited twenty years to unite with the man.

The flow of the storyline paralleled the other books in the series, with many of the main characters graces the pages of To Touch You. Ethan and Miguel are an integral part of Yoram and Sal’s life and added depth to the overall arc of the series.

Cardeno C never bores me with her witty writing and charm. To Touch You was a wonderful culmination to a very well developed and written series.

S.E.X. Review~ Shift by Shelley Grayson

Someone's killing werewolves.

Lukas Vance finds a list of towns under his wipers, and in each town he finds a dead 19-year-old who smells like pack. The scent's close but not quite right, and Lukas knows they can't be related to him. So how's it possible they carry Vance pack scent? 

He reaches Hunter's Rock before the killer, determined to get the next intended victim out of this situation alive. And when he catches the familiar scent, then sees the guy it belongs to, Lukas wants to do so much more than protect him. 

Chris Keenan doesn't know why gorgeous, broody Lukas thinks he's in danger, but he likes being near him. Lukas wants to keep him safe, and when Chris freaks out, he seems to be able to calm him down. 

Chris hasn't been feeling like himself for a while, and it seems they're about to find out why. Instead of going to the police, he puts his trust in Lukas and his brother Griffin, and discovers that figuring out who he is may be harder than he thinks. 

A new spin on shifters, new author (to this reader), Shelley Grayson created an intriguing and exciting fast-paced tale for the start of her new series, Wolves of Hunter’s Rock, Shift.

Something was amiss and foul play was afoot, as a collective group of young men and women were tragically meeting their death. Wolf shifters Lukas and Griffin were on the hunt to save the remaining people on the list slated to die, while trying to solve the mystery behind the foul play.

Ms. Grayson delivered a mystery novel which transcended the conceptions a reader would have concerning shifters. A creation of unbelievable and extraordinary in an ordinary world.

Each character added a new dimension to the many layers of Hunter’s Rock and slid into the jigsaw puzzle Ms. Grayson fashioned. The writing style kept me captivated and spellbound, reading each page and attempting to place the final pieces of the puzzle together.

Brothers Lukas and Griffin were bold characters- emotionally stunted, but grew as the story progressed.

Chris, Albert, Jules and Tad brought up the reinforcements in Shift- each with their own issues, whether human or hybrid.

I enjoyed the reality Ms. Grayson infused into the story. Everything was not wine and roses. People perished, cried, and hurt- each event delivering a new layer and adding more mystery and question.

I look forward to the next book in the series, as with any good mystery novel, the story must go on.

S.E.X. Review~ No Matter What by Sydney Presley

They must protect each other. No matter what.

Quinn has resigned himself to living alone. His cabin, on the outskirts of a village, is the perfect place for him to paint. No distractions, lots of peace and quiet—until he goes out for a run as a wolf and sees another wolf scarpering for its life.

Goddard is that wolf. He’s been running for God knows how long, and he’s tired of looking over his shoulder, waiting to be found by the one man Goddard doesn’t want finding him. Injured, he discovers a cabin and goes inside.

Quinn’s and Goddard’s lives are changed forever when they realize they are bonded mates. The thing is, there’s still the problem of the man from Goddard’s past to get over, and when an incident in the village means Goddard’s whereabouts becomes public knowledge, things might take a nasty turn.

Gone are the days when the two men had to stick by human law. Being mated means wolf law comes first—and if it means killing to keep each other safe, then that’s what they’re prepared to do. They must protect each other. No matter what.

No Matter What by Sydney Presley was a nice read. Upon discovering they were fated mates, Quinn and Goddard traversed a slippery slope of getting to know each other and reconciling a past which stood in their way.

Each man brought an interesting dynamic to the table, an almost primitive quality in a modern world- an oxymoron.

While I found both characters likeable, I found myself struggling to connect with them. I believe this may be in part to the continuous POV change, leaving me bereft to fully connect.

A quick read with a slow pace.

S.E.X. Review~ Midnight Madness by Cree Storm

Shaw didn't know what the hell fate was thinking asking him to mate with Law and a young man he had never laid eyes on before. He didn't know if he could do it. Even after being told that the fate of all shifters and paranormals depended on him doing just that. 
Then shots are fired, and people are fighting for their very lives. Can Law, Shaw, and Midnight come together as fate has deemed or will the shifter world cease to exist? 

I thoroughly enjoyed Cree Storm's Midnight Madness~ book 1 in her new series Haven Ranch. Three brothers abandoned at birth and raised by humans found themselves in the middle of a shifter war/prophesy settling in a new town which they inherited from their natural father. Along with their inheritance came the responsibility of an entire town of shifters and their new mates.

It appears that each book in the series will be a trio with each brother receiving his own book.

Midnight, Sky, and Rey will mate with two shifters who've resided on the ranch and fulfill the prophesy to stop the war and help perpetuate the shifter race.

The world building was well developed and the characters exuded personality. At bit of formatting issues and a HFN with the anticipation of an HEA, Midnight Madness was worth the read.
